City to Surf
Are you in serious (or semi-serious) training for the City to Surf in August?
Have you considered making massage a regular part of your training program?
Anybody who competes in sport may constantly put their body under stress, in training and in competition. Running can work your body to the point of breakdown and occasionally it may go beyond this resulting in either an overuse or traumatic injury.

Sports Massage has numerous benefits including;
For those training for the City to Surf, the body needs to rest to enable it to recover from the fatigue which results from hard training and to enable it to develop the resilience necessary to achieve improved performance. As training builds up, a point is reached where the body is no longer to fully recover between sessions and performance may level off. One must have enough rest time to allow the systems of the body to rcver fully between training sessions. With only 24 hours in a day, full recovery may not be possible unless the effectiveness of the rest periods is improved.
Massage therapy can remove the accumulation of general aches and pains that sportsmen accept as normal due to their gradual build-up. It normally takes a muscle that has been stressed to a point of fatigue 48-72 hours to rest, adapt and recuperate. Skillfuly applied sports massage can reduce the recuperation time by as much as 50 percent.
