Welcome to the latest edition of Massage Moves, particularly to those receiving it for the first time.

Thank you to all those who responded to our request for feedback - we appreciate your time and comments.
In order to be more responsive to your calls, one change that we have recently made is that Betty will be answering the phone some of the time that Richard is unavailable. Being able to give more immediate information should make your massage booking process a little smoother. Whilst there still will be occasions when we will both be massaging, hopefully this should reduce the amount of time we rely on our answering machine.
On the therapist development front, Dayle and Richard have recently completed a certificate in "Pregnancy Massage" at Nature Care College and so we can offer a greater range of service and availability to those who require professional massage during this important time.

    Best Regards
Richard and the Inner West Massage Team.

Price Increase ( + special offer for Newsletter subscribers)

Unfortunately price increases are a fact of life. Our costs have increased (particularly petrol which is a significant factor in our business) and we've reached the time when we have to pass on these increases to our customers. From the 1st March 2006 we will be increasing our base price for a one hour massage from $70 to $80 We still consider these prices great value compared with other mobile massage organisations.

As a special offer to you, as a subscriber to "Massage Moves" we are delaying this price increase until the 1st May 2006.

To qualify for this offer then please mention that you are a subscriber when making a booking.

    Static Stretching

This article continues the series on stretching and looks at some research into Static Stretching. Static stretching is probably the most common stretch utilized by athletes and those who are looking to improve their flexibility and/or joint range of motion. In static stretching, a joint is moved through it’s range of motion so that the muscle is held in the stretch position and held statically (without any movement) usually for around 10 to 30 seconds.

When not to have a massage

While we have spent the past year or so espousing the benefits that massage can bring (and in particular the benefits of having a massage in your own home), there are occasions when massage is not the most appropriate treatment. These are generally referred to as Massage Contraindications, simply meaning that massage is inadvisable and conditions may exist in which it would not be beneficial to apply massage to part of or all of the body.
