Welcome to the latest edition of Massage Moves, particularly to those receiving it for the first time. This edition of "Massage Moves" is coming out a little earlier than normal as I'll be away for a few weeks from May 3rd. Betty will be handling the bookings during my absence and she will be able to arrange your massage appointments with the therapist most suitable for your needs.

Our sister organisation covering the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney has started. There are experienced therapists able to provide high quality massages seven days a week so if you have any family or friends in the Eastern Suburbs who would benefit from a home massage then please feel free to forward this newsletter to them (or better still buy them a massage gift certificate!) The articles in this and future "Massage Moves" newsletters will effectively be shared between the two companies and there will be a prize draw each month for newsletter subscribers alternating between the Inner West and the Eastern Suburbs. The next Inner West draw is 15th May 2006.

    Best Regards.
Richard and the Inner West Massage Team.

ps I heard on the radio the other day that a mobile massage therapist is charging a $5 petrol surcharge! With the spiralling price of petrol, a home massage with Inner West Mobile Massage is looking even better value!

    Massage and Toxins

Many massage therapists will tell you that after a massage you should drink plenty of water to ‘flush out toxins’. Massage websites also claim that one of the benefits of massage is that it can rid the body of unspecified toxins that can accumulate in the tissues and cells. Search for “release toxins massage” on Google and you will find websites that make this claim. However does massage do this and is there any evidence to support these claims?

    PNF Stretching

This article continues the series on stretching and looks at PNF Stretching considered by many to be the most effective way to increase static flexibility.
PNF stands for Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation and was first developed as a treatment for paralysis patients.

    Pregnancy Leg Cramps

Leg cramps affect up to half of all pregnancy women, probably because the leg muscles are tired from carrying around extra weight. Typically the cramps begin during the second trimester, get worse as the pregnancy progresses and are worse at night.
